Croda Makes Ingredients for Stay-True Hair Hues

Both men and women color their hair more than ever before and the reasons consumers color their hair are as diverse as the shades on the market. Aware of consumer demand for hair color, Croda is boosting its hair care ingredients portfolio with the launch of Arlasilk Phospholipid PLN and Liquihue EZ.

According to the company, Arlasilk Phospholipid PLN, an organosilicone composition, is an easy-to-use, multifunctional ingredient that delivers exceptionally high silicone content to formulations. Derived from safflower oil, it is extremely mild and offers excellent emolliency, high substantivity and performance. It delivers the excellent skin feel properties and benefits of silicone without build-up on the skin or hair.

For manufacturers looking to simplify the development process of liquid gel hair color, Croda suggests Liquihue EZ, a blend of ingredients created to be the entire oil phase of the formulation, thereby streamlining formulation development. It is also beneficial in manufacturing as it reduces inventory and simplifies the production process. According to the company, in laboratory tests, Liquihue EZ outperformed other leading brands by its durability to repeated shampoo washes and its better dye penetration of the hair fiber, helping to provide truer hair color. An Effective Material for Weight Management

Svetol, a water-soluble extract of decaffeinated green coffee beans, can reduce the body mass index (BMI) and increase the lean mass to fat mass ratio. According to data compiled by the Naturex Actifs Innovants department, Svetol works as a fat burner by decreasing the glucose intestinal absorption and by inhibiting the glucose-6-phosphatase (G-6-Pase) in the liver.

The first approach is the inhibition of glucose absorption from the digestive tract. A 400-mg Svetol supplementation per day for 40 days significantly reduces the post-load glyceamia after an oral glucose tolerance test, without any change in the pre-load glyceamia. Svetol has also been demonstrated to significantly inhibit G-6-Pase, hepatic enzyme permitting glucose release from the liver. The decrease of intestinal glucose absorption and the inhibition of G-6-Pase both conduce to a blood sugar concentration regulation.  More info: Karine Nardon at Svetol,  [email protected], (33) 553-61-81-00, www.svetol.com
